With 3 shows throughout the day in collaboration with Frontiers & Sam Brown, this was a marathon show & shopping event which attracted more than 200 customers  to view the latest winter styles from the West End Village boutiques.

From Arkangel & Felon we saw bright pops of colour, inspiring pattern clashes & cosy winter wear including a gorgeous selection of stylish coats co ordinated with zingy zatchels, Paul Smith & Urban Lab scarves & the  coveted Wilbur & Gussie clutch bags. All perfectly styled by our creative director Sarah Cosgrove.

Our favourite set was an offbeat selection of looks coordinated in black & white, a pattern front shift dress with diamond pattern clutch a white chiffon tail shirt, leatherette trimmed blazer and satin skinny pants, teamed with black & white melissa lace-up flats & matching 2-tone zatchel. What striking monochrome style!

First up there’s the collection we styled for Edinburgh Online Fashion Week, which you can see on Tuesday 23 October at 4pm. Lots of gorgeous autumn season goodies which you can browse from the comfort of your own sofa or desk!

Then we’re adding some much-needed pep, glamour and sparkle to dreary old November with our very own West End Fashion Show, which takes place on Tuesday 6 November, in collaboration with our friends, local boutiques Sam Brown and Frontiers.

We’ll be showcasing, styling and celebrating some perfect pieces to see you through those chilling upcoming Jack Frost months, from super-snuggly and stylish winter coats and knitwear to a positively mouthwatering range of dazzling Christmas partywear, with inspiration a-plenty for gifts for your loved ones – and undoubtedly more than a few items for your own Dear Santa lists!

Ticket holders will also be treated to fantastic promotional offers instore, canapés provided by the lovely folks over at Edinburgh Larder, plus a glass of bubbles on your arrival.

We’ll be running shows at 12pm, 5.30pm and at 8pm at a top secret location in the West End so wherever you are and whatever you have planned hopefully you’ll be able to join us!

If you haven’t already picked up on the buzz of Edinburgh Online Fashion Week, then take a sharp intake of breath now.  Arkangel & Felon are featured in the city’s first ever online catwalk show to be streamed online via the Scotsman and STV websites throughout the third week of October. You don’t even have to leave your desk, buy a ticket or dress for the occasion. Simply lock the office door, tell your boss you’re on a late lunch, put the kids in front of the TV.

These shots, featuring incredibly brave model Elaine Ford and snapped by photographer Phil Stanley Dickson, truly injected some sartorial pizazz into the normally not-very-glamourous activity of rock climbing, and provided a fabulously windswept and adventurous showcase for our autumn-red leather Zatchel, Almost Famous grey faux sheepskin gilet and bright silk colour-splash Urban Lab scarves (of which we’re proud to be Scotland’s exclusive stockist!). Who said fashion is all champagne and frou frou?

A huge well done to all the guys on the creative team for battling slippery rocks and a Scottish thunderstorm to capture these beautiful and unique pictures (just give them a click to zoom to see the detail)- a bit of a fashion first as one of the only ever full-on outdoors climbing fashion shoots captured on camera.

With Fireworks Night just around the corner, the Capital’s skyline is set to explode with colour and texture.

 Much like the style offerings available in the city this autumn/winter as Edinburgh embraces the eclectic mix of trends the fashion gods have sent us this season.

“There is certainly a plethora of trends to choose from. From faux fur to biker chic, lace to animal print, there is a lot going on,” says Sarah Cosgrove, owner of the Arkangel and Felon boutique on William Street.

The mix suits Sarah, a former London-based stylist to the stars, perfectly, fitting her love of quirky, individual outfits like a glove.

We caught up with her as she was busy preparing for her boutique’s autumn/winter fashion show in Fountainbridge, the first she has hosted since the shop opened its doors in the West End Village a year ago.

Up to her eyes in the likes of Paul by Paul Smith, Betty Jackson and Wilbur & Gussie, her team of models were getting ready to show the people of Edinburgh just how to make their mark as the weather turns drab and the nights draw in.

“I always look for things that have a bit of a difference about them,” says Sarah, who has worked with the likes of Claudia Winkelman and Zara Phillips on shoots across the globe.

“We have people who come in the shop who are in their 60s or 70s looking for something very classy and timeless. But the same items can be used to make a very unique look, depending on what they are worn with.

“The heritage trend, with its rich earthy tweeds and tailoring, is a great example of that.”

Sarah’s message this season is to take a risk. Take the time to team up pieces that will really make you stand out from the crowd as the Edinburgh weather takes a turn for the worse.

“It’s all about how you put things together,” she says.

I’m off to meet a client for a Summer wardrobe session & personal shopping. Hurray! I spent yesterday afternoon in the shop with the door locked, pulling together outfits for my client.  I now want a duplicate of every piece of clothing for myself despite the fact that I was dressing up with someone else in mind & would probably have never tried half the items on.  At 5ft 2;  blonde, blue eyes & boobs! this doll couldn’t be more different to me & strangely enough dressing up pretending to be someone else opened my eyes to colours, shapes & styles I’ve been missing out on. Despite years of styling it’s easy to slip into a pattern. I have a particular sort of style & probably turn a blind eye to anything I imagine not to be me. Choosing for someone who’s not me threw something else into the mix. I might even think about going blonde but aside from a bit of extra padding I think I’ll pass on the boob job.

Btw Karen, I hope you’re not reading this – after our shopping session I went back to the shop & bought myself the navy maxi tube dress which I selected for you. It was so not you & so not me yet it looks fab on both. I know it’ll be a well loved Summer wardrobe staple, I’ve already worn mine with a very old and well loved cropped denim jacket &  a pair of melissa flats.  As for you my dear, you can trust the weather to be  a little kinder and wear it jacketless with those fab nude wedges we got for you! Perfect to get a bit of extra height & still be comfy whilst hitting high in the trend stakes.

Orange is literally this season’s hottest colour! We’ve had the winter hues of
grey, black & taupe a season too far so it’s time to zest up & grab a fruity 5 a day shade. Choose from lime green, citrus yellow or berry purple. Ahhhh orange … the colour of tropical sunsets & tequila cocktails if it’s just too strong then coral is a great alternative & casts a flattering glow onto most skin types. Btw all these zesty shades are great teamed with White, denim & natural tones or so you dont have to zing it head to foot choose vivid accessories for pops of colour to add a lilt of joy to your outfit – perhaps a cheeky little satin clutch or a zingy printed scarf . It’s as good as a shot of vitamin C & bound to beat those post winter blues.

We’re now on the countdown to New Year or Hogmanay as we say in these parts. Why couldn’t these two major celebrations have been a bit more evenly spaced out to least get us over the first hangover before creating the next? Also giving more opportunity to spin out the sparkles for longer (see blog previous). Anyway talking of attire, if you’re venturing out to celebrate the coming of 2011 under a fountain of fireworks with a plethora freezing folk, then why not set yourself apart by being cosy warm and uber stylish with the Ilse Jacobsen puffa.  BTW you’ll set this off perfectly by teaming it with the celebs choice of winter head gear, the Madeleine Thompson beanie, in cashmere no less! And I might also add, in case of all those drunken beer splashes or worse!? The puffa is machine washable.
